HTTP help now - 23/02/2002 19:52

Alright I had this working the other night. Now when I try to connect to my empeg via http it cant find the page. In the config.ini file all the network settings are 0.0.0.0 Im thinking this may be the issue but if anyone could lemme know that would be great

Well, did you previously set up an IP-adress, mask etc through emplode? Or tell it to use DHCP?
Or did you use the uPnP stuff?

Questions:
When you connect via emplode, does it use tcp/ip, usb or serial.

On the player, select the "About" option. It will scroll through and tell you the IP address its using. THIS should not be 0.0.0.0 etc.

In my environment, config.ini shows ip addresses.

Just checking off the basics lists: You have installed a Hijack kernel? And not applied an .upgrade file (for instance 2.0b11) afterwards, without reapplying Hijack?

Back to basics, folks.

Hook up a serial cable, and watch for error messages over the serial link.

Also look for the startup messages from khttpd and kftpd. If you don't see them, they ain't running..

Re: HTTP help now - 27/02/2002 18:18

I ran hyperterminal and I didnt see anything about khttpd or kftpd but it wasnt hooked up to the network at the time so that may have been an issue

Re: HTTP help now - 27/02/2002 19:49

It looks as though you are using DHCP.
If that is the case, then starting up without being on the network won't give you an IP address. This may/may not prevent the http/ftp from even bothering to start.

You should try troubleshooting this in the environment you will be using it. ie on a network.

I will be around for the next couple hours. If you want, email me offline at [email protected]

It shouldn't be too hard to sort out (famous last words )

Re: HTTP help now - 27/02/2002 20:37

1. install Hijack (again!).

2. Run off AC power, not DC.

3. Ensure the Hijack menu pops up.

4. Go into the Hijack menu and ensure the "Force Power Mode" is set to "Normal".

5. go pull some more hair out.

Re: HTTP help now - 27/02/2002 22:37

Well, so what was it?

Doesn't do any good to post the problem here, but not post the solution when you find it. That's not fair.

Re: HTTP help now - 27/02/2002 22:42

Oh well first off I had the empeg set to Car mode in Hijack, and my bookmark for the http was old and apparently it was changed.

Right, you gotta pay attention to the Hijack release notes. He did change the URLs.
