seems that my unit crashes from time to time and the only fix other than to downgrade to 1.03 is to pull the unit from the dash, and re insert it. (reboot)
Kind of a pain while I am driving. So here's what I did.
I took the dash apart, and put a spring switch (like the reset button on your PC) in the power line to the empeg and mounted it under the dashboard near the steering coulumn,
now when the unit crashes,
I just press and hold the button for a second and violla! reboot.
I am sure that whatever is causing my unit to crash will be fixed soon, with the next release, but I am also sure that there will be something else by then that will cause the thing to crash, so I figured it was worth the effort.

Interesting idea.

Have you seen if the "Reboot Machine" feature in the Hijack kernel gets around your particular crashes? Can you even bring up Hijack during these lockups?

I suspect it would if the unit would respond to ANY button press,
but NOTHING works during lockup.
so I figured I'd add a working button.

I suspect this mod might work in the acc ignition line, also, gonna try this....

yeah...but if it's just the play locking up, then Hijack could respond since it would be intercepting codes before they are sent to the player...
it would be like if a progam crashes in Windows, generally speaking, windows should be able to respond still...

It'd be a good way to show off your boot logo too! I've actually rebooted my player (by yanking it out of the dash) to show someone the boot logo. hehe
