Stupid Power Question

When I got the empeg in my car and power it up l little battery appears in the upper lefthand corner. What does this mean?

Ever since I put the empeg in my car some weird things started happening. i.e. when I roll up a few windows the unit shuts off.

Any suggestions as to what I can do about the power consumption and a possible remedy? short of getting a better alternator I'm out of ideas.
