What exactly does this do?

If you have installed the "button LED hack" to light up the controls on your player, the "headlight sense logic" automatically dims the LEDs when your automobile headlights are turned on (presumably because it is dark outside). The "inverted" just refers to fixing a bug whereby the original implementation was backwards.. dimming for daytime, full brightness for darkness. Doh!

Re: Inverted headlight sense logic. - 11/03/2002 19:55

how does it know if the headlights are on?

Re: Inverted headlight sense logic. - 11/03/2002 20:07

It can't tell when the headlights are on, per se, but it can tell when its dark outside. It just assumes that if its dark out, the headlights are on........

I'm assuming it uses the time stored onboard?

Re: Inverted headlight sense logic. - 11/03/2002 20:28

No, IIRC it modulates the input from the IR sensor. Its not terribly accurate, for example there is a reference in the FAQ saying not to enable this feature if you have tinted windows. Some guy posted bugs@empeg that every time he lit a cigarette, the display on his empeg got brighter. Turned out to be the same problem.

That's nothing compared to the hygrometer sensor we enabled last week.

I won't even ask what that is

I'm just a lowly web developer

In the wires of your Car Sled , there is a wire connected to the light sense.

Just in case a newbie comes along to read this thread in the distant future, I would like to point out that we're joking about the IR sensor and the Hygrometer.

I'm glad you pointed that out Tony. I was about to email Mark and tell him that hygrometer_enable=1 in config.ini was causing a HiJack error.

Hi Theory

Yeah as Tony pointed out, we were taking the pi*s. (er thats a kiwi/english phrase - If you're american "we was just foolin with ya").

On a serious note, some of the best new stuff to come out recently on the client side for the empeg has been the html/xml interface.

Theres nothing lowly about web developers, in fact we need more of them.

Hey!! Shhhssh! I've still got a patent pending on that. Keep it quiet until it gets approved! Nobody else has ever used an IRDA tranceiver to detect moisture reflections of its own transmissions to measure humidity levels, and I want all of the royalties!
