VERY Slow Uploads :-| - 24/04/2002 07:02

At First I though my hard drive was bad because it kept locking up, so I got a new one followed all the steps to format it using the upgrade image and everything went fine.

I started Uploading a 12g slice of music at 7pm tuesday night and at 8am Weds its only about 1/2 way done.

I don't remember it taking this long last time I uploaded to it.

Also every so offen the Little Spinning "Synchronising" icon will stop.

IS this normal ????

There are no reported errors on the Emplod side it just seems to be taking forever

Info

New IBG 20G (Single Drive for now I have one more)
No jumpers (As per man pages Single Drive master is No jumpers)

The Empeg Is connected Via Ethernet

If you are connecting to the player via the serial port instead of through USB or Ethernet, then it is expected to be slow.

If you are running version 2.0 beta 11 of the software without Hijack, it could be the jiffies bug which makes the player freeze for 20 minutes at a time. Try either adding Hijack (which fixes the jiffies bug) or downgrading to 1.03.

Okay, then... Have either of you scanned the machines on your local network for viruses lately? Slow ethernet traffic can often be traced to things like Code Red and Nimda.

If you are using the default (factory) software, then yes, it is deathly slow. Try the beta software instead (top left of this screen) -- much faster.

If you've already got the v2.0-beta11 stuff installed, then I dunno.
