Riocar looses time and date when unplugged

Riocar looses time and date when unplugged - 10/05/2002 09:14

I am running 2.00 beta 11 When I set the time/date and verified that it set and then removed the power for about 15 seconds and checking the time after booting back up it was reset to default.

I contacted tech support as per the FAQ on riocar.org and they asked if it worked in 1.3 release. I put 1.3 back on the player and the clock did work so I upgraded to 2.00 beta 11 again and it "does" work as far as I can tell. (sorry about the misprint)

Has anyone had a similiar problem or maybe explain to me why this might have happened?

Thanks,
Daniel

I am running beta 11 and it happens to me too....I don't care too much because I never really use the clock. It is kinda annoying to set it and have it crap out again and again tho....

Sorry, I realized that I mistyped the line about working. It does work now and I corrected the original thread. I guess I shouldn't let work get in the way of my personal interests.

If the problem only happened once, and only on Beta 11, it could have been due to the stuck jiffies bug. Do you have Hijack installed? The recent versions of Hijack fix the stuck jiffies bug.

I don't have hijack installed and it was happening since I got the unit about 2 months ago. I tried to set the time 3 times and each time I thought I had set it before which is why I tested it in the manner described. I did that twice with the same affect, the system never seemed to keep time once power had been removed.

After putting 1.3, testing, then putting 2.00 beta 11 back and changing the time again (although it kept the settings from 1.3), I left the power off for 30 minutes and it still had the correct time. This was last night and I need to doublecheck again today, just in case.

Do you have any more info on this "jiffies bug?" If I knew a little more about it, maybe I could recreate the problem somehow.

Thanks,
Daniel

I don't think its the jiffies, I've not had hardly any of the problems that are described in the post you linked to. In over a month I've had 2 lockups on boot when it said "Loading playlists." They both happened when it was in the car and there was no error message. I pulled the player out and put it back in and it ran fine. The only other problem I've had is not rebooting on a sync which is a known bug for beta 11. I simply pull the power when it does't look like its going to reboot and manually reboot, the emplode software continues to work fine.

I doesn't sound like the problems these people have been having with the jiffies, but if you think I'm wrong, please tell me so.

Thanks,
Daniel

Ive had mine lock up on loading playlists, it was the jiffies error.

But would that cause the time to reset?

Are you still having the time reset on you?

or did it go away?

It's kept the time for 3 days now, and I've left it off for as much as 10 hours, which is a hell of a lot longer than 15 seconds.
