Power Fault Rio Mk2a - 06/07/2002 10:24

I have just installed my Original Mk2 Empeg in to my nice new Landie. All works ok but..... I also have a Rio Mk2a which refuses to power up when plugged into the car. It works fine using the AC adapter but nothing at all in the car. I have changed the sled in the car from the original Mk2 Sled to a new replacement sled but still no joy.

Anyone got any ideas or am I going to have to send it back to Rio????

Thanks & regards

Bill

You're putting each of the players into the same sled, and only one is working, so we know the sled is wired properly, is that you're situation?

It's OK to miss something, it's a big document.

Ok, Just been out to check the wiring and all looks ok. Connections as follows:

Black - Ground
Yellow (Memory) - Always on - 12.2V
Orange - Ignition sense - Only on when ignition on.... 12.6V

So all looks ok to me, but Mk2a still doesn't work. What will happen if I give ignition sense permemant live... ??

Thanks,

Bill

The unit should turn on... that is if the yellow wire has power too. Also make shure none of the pins have pulled out of the connector somtimes they could appear to be in but they might be pushed back just far enough not to make contact.

Ok checked sled all ok, tried making Both ignition sense and live live.... still no luck. The Mk2 is working properly, powering down when ignition is turned off etc. I wreckon there is a fault on the RIO. I've tried everything I can think of and read through the installtion FAQ from end to end...

, powering down when ignition is turned off etc.

Wait a minute. Is it powering down when the ignition is turned off, or is it going into standby mode when the ignition is turned off?

If the Mk2 is not going into standby mode when the ignition is turned off, if it's fully powering down (probably accompanied by a pop from the amplifiers) then I continue to stand by my initial diagnosis: Installation wiring fault of some kind. There is nothing wrong with the player itself: it's getting power on the ignition line only and not the constant-power line.

If the Mk2 is properly going into standby mode when the ignition is turned off, then the wiring is probably OK and you should contact support.

Have now triple checked my wiring and it looks like I'm going to have to get hold of support ahh well....
