TWiT 29 talks about the Symphony device - 10/11/2005 07:01

The new TWiT podcast briefly had them talking about the Symphony device from Olive Inc. Sadly, it seemed to prove how ineffective Rio was at marketing once again, as they seemed amazed a device existed to rip your CDs to a hard drive, then offer the ability to either play the music, or send it to a portable media player. Doubly odd though is that they forgot about the Central even after showing it ages back on TechTV along with the Rio Riot.

It is such a shame so much work went unnoticed by even some of the most popular tech journalists.

It didn't go unnoticed, it's just that they don't have a show if they don't act amazed at this "new" gizmo.

One thing I forgot to say above was that based on their comments, it really did seem that the idea of such a device was completely new to them. One even went on to comment such a device in the car would be awesome, completely ignoring the small empeg market, but also the attempts by Sony and Pioneer for an in dash MP3 hard drive solution.

Oh well, not much can be done about it now. It's just a shame that Rio never had enough marketing power to make even some of the hard core geeks in the media take notice.
