Opening the Rio Carbon for the drive.

Seems the Rio Carbon does use a standard Compact Flash hard drive, complete with all the drive electronics. This site has the teardown information.

Now the question is, will the Carbon work with a smaller drive, possibly a 1gig flash based CF card?

I'm too chiken to try. Although a few years from now it might be interesting to put a >5GB card into the Carbon.

Can anybody in the know care to comment on the 'elasticity' of the data partition size that the Carbon's firmware can access?
