Dead Carbon - 07/06/2005 00:57

My sister's carbon seems to have died, and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do. It doesn't turn on with the power switch, and it doesn't charge with the cable plugged into a computer or the ac adapter. Nothing on the screen, no noises or anything. I've put a needle down the reset switch, but that doesn't seem to have any effect either.

Any ideas what I should do next?

Sounds like a hardware fault of some kind, so there's probably nothing you personally can do other than call them up for a repair or exchange.

Well, it's definitly out of waranty, so I suppose the next step is attempting to salvage the microdrive. I guess I've become more of a believer in extended waranties for portable mp3 players.

At least the ones with spindles, I agree. I'm on my 2nd Carbon. I got the extended BestBuy warranty on the replacement too.
