Really. Sometimes I have a hard time hitting the physical buttons on the empeg due to car bumpiness. I can't imagine what trying to poke a PDA screen with one hand would be like.

I agree. I have a jeep and pushing the buttons needs to be
"see free". I can't be looking for where my fingers are, I have to be able to feel what I'm doing while I'm driving.
Ultimately, It's a viable piece for the market if someone designs a nice control head for it.
Cool Toy - but not what I could consider complete...

I use TomTom Navigator on my Pocket PC, in a mount. It is easy to navigate around the basic navigation UI, because all the buttons are bigger than a finger tip. The trick is to rest a couple of fingers on the side of the mount and then press the button with another finger.
If it wasn't in a mount it would be extremely dangerous to use.
Looking at the Musicvaultz's UI everything looks far too small to be useful. They need to dump the standard Palm UI widgets and think a little more about the control system.

My 'mount' consists of 2 pieces of velcro! Works well with the Navman bluetooth receiver.

PDA/GPS - 03/03/2005 16:24
I recently got a Zire72 (PalmOS) PDA, and have a bluetooth GPSR on order for use with it. The mapopolis mapping software seems adequate -- I used the 9-day free-trial maps, and last night paid the fee for the whole shebang (Canada and Bushland).
I'm hoping to jury rig a mounting system for the PDA so I can fingerprint the screen while driving. Mapopolis also includes auto-routing and voice prompts etc.. as well as maps of much of Europe. Looks useful.
Oddly enough, there are only 5 bytes different between their demo maps and the paid maps -- identical file sizes, too.
Cheers

Well, (I know old thread) I have a similar setup with my empeg since I didn't want to rip out the factory stereo in the landrover I use an mlord dock in the back for the empeg, a wireless access point and stream via 802.11 to my hp6315 which is my cell phone also. As long as I stick with predefined playlists I'm fine, if I'm browsing the empeg via the hijack web page I'd best pull over.
