Control empeg w/o loading emplode or jemplode. - 08/05/2003 18:11

Hi All,

I once saw a program that could control the empeg by sending serial commands. I'd like to find one that can do this (play, pause, ff, rew, skip track, etc) via Ethernet without using emplode or jemplode...

Does such an animal exist?

EmpegTray for your system tray (Windows only).

Clearly someone should write a perl module so you can use something like the xmms ctrl stuff.

I'm not volunteering

This program absolutely rocks, but is adding track skip forward on the agenda for a feature enhancement?

You'd have to ask the program's author, jheathco.

Hm. Never got a response... jheathco? You here?

I use this program all the time now and would just love that one piece of functionality that it doesn't have yet...

The HTTP command interface is courtesy of Hijack and Empeg Towers. I would guess that the app you were using is just a GUI front end to the simple command capability underneath, so it oughta be REALLY simple to add any missing commands to the GUI. Got the source?

I thought it DID have this feature ... but whenever I used it, skipping a track would just pause the player.

After getting frustrated, to control the player I just load up the charcolgray99 thingamabob. You get a "virtual" empeg and/or a virtual remote. Very slick. I guess LoJack is the same way.
