Does empeg have any plans to build any sort of Visualization API or have some other way for new Visuals "plugins" to be made for the player software?

yes they do.
...have plans, that is. They don't have an API yet-- just plans to make the player software extensible via plug-ins. Among the things that will fall under this plug-in API will be the visuals.
