vi? - 18/07/2001 07:31

Anyone ported Vi to empeg? I was completely lost while messing around with it last night when I discovered (naturally) that I had no vi.

If no one's done it already, I'm thinking it'll be a good exercise on cross compiling, etc...

There is one included in more complete Debian (as found on Frank's site) - it is called nvi there - but it works pretty lousy for me... Someone has recommended another editor, though (I can't find the thread right now).

I just use the pre-compiled elvis binary that comes with the debian potato "base2_2.tgz" file.

Check this post for links to ae and needed config file and library. Ae is sort of emacs-like in its keybindings, so if you don't like emacs it might not be of interest...
