protein folding - 11/03/2002 10:04

A novelty idea I suppose - since I must assume there are more pressing matters... but

I usually bring my empeg in from my car and sit it on the network at work so I can stream tunes to my workstation during the day. Most of the time it is sitting there idle, doing nothing. At least if it was folding some protein, or doing some other P2P task, it would be doing something interesting.

I bet the distributed.net client will run. It runs on everything, righ?

People have already gotten certain distributed-computing clients running on the Empeg, so that is possible. It's been done. Anyone have links?

Yes, because I wanted it to. I basicially noticed the old ARM client didn't work, the maintainer updated it, and it now works fine on an empeg. http://miniinfo.net:8081/empeg/ is my old Mark 1 log from long ago where I was running the d.net client all the time. With some of the upcoming changes to Hijack, I may look into it again.
