Where'd JEmplode go?

Where'd JEmplode go? - 01/04/2002 01:27

I just went to update my JEmplode to the latest version. Didn't really pay attention, and just clicked on the bright red link that said "Click here to download the latest pre-release". After I had overwritten the .jar file and started up JEmplode, it refused to grab the database from the player. Just kept rebuilding the database every time I started the program.

So, I went to the website and noticed the download I clicked on is dated March 5th. And, all the info at the bottom tracking changes between releases is gone.

What happened?

Yeah, I just came here intending to post the same thing. I didn't keep the v33 jar file I had, so now I just have some old kind of broken jemplode instead of the v34 I intended to get.

Pretty mean April Fools joke if you ask me...

Mike, are you out there?

(edited to point out that I was intending to get v34, not v35, which to my knowledge doesn't exist yet.)

I don't this this is a joke (Mike would come up with a better one, I believe). More likely one of typical pre-holiday snafus.

Anyway, as a temporary measure, I have put what I believe is V35 at http://kinojaca.org/bonzi/files/jemplode20.jar

Ahhh, I get my fix. It's v34, by the way, but it is the latest.

Thanks!

Damn.. I FINALLY decide to actually install Jemplode and I get hit with this! I notices something was wrong when the Install FAQ wasn't even there...

Uh .. I have NO idea what's going on with jempeg.org ... You can use my personal site @ www.batmanthehorse.com/jemplode till I figure out what's going on.

I would like to think I would come up with something better than that too I can't ssh into the box either -- Something terrible must be happening at Dan's site.

I've never been so glad that my hosting company does daily backups!

It actually has nothing to do with backups; here's what's happening. Yesterday, I migrated the server that jempeg.org lives on from Solaris/Intel to FreeBSD. Most things went smoothly. Some, it seems, did not - and among these are the fact that, somehow, unbeknownst to me, the CVS repository (and jempeg.org) didn't get transferred to the new machine properly.

However... I still have the original disks. So I'm going to fire up Solaris/Intel and get the information recovered sometime this evening. And then everything should be good as, well, right before the changeover.

Sorry 'bout the inconvenience, guys...

I've fixed the problem now. Essentially, what happened was this:

I was migrating the system from Solaris/Intel to FreeBSD, in order to use a 3ware 6410 RAID controller (which I'd highly recommend - it's ATA/66 only, but at $100 for the controller you can't beat it if you need an up-to-4-drive IDE RAID. It even does RAID-5, which is what I'm using it for). Anyway, I had mirrored all the data from the server to this new huge RAID I've got, except that due to a typographical error in my mirroring script, jempeg.org wasn't mirrored. Luckily (well, not luckily; intentionally), I still had the old drives around, so it was just a matter of getting the data off the old drives and onto the new machine.

Again, I apologize for the inconvenience and any mayhem that may have ensued because of it...
