Blaupunkt RC-10 Steering Wheel Remote - 10/06/2003 08:04

So, thinking of the new install I have to go thorugh, I was considering to get a new remote for my steering wheel.

On Crutchfield I found these ones:
Blaupunkt RC-10
Pioneer CD-SR100
Kenwood KCA-RC700 (which I know well as I've been using it so far)

The advantage of the Kenwood is that after mounting it it is not visible since it's hidden behind the steering wheel,a dn that it is compatible with the empeg which may be useful in the disgraceful case you're not using hijack.
Not major advantage, I think. So I am considering to buy something more ergonomic.

By simply looking at the pictures, I like the Balupunkt better than the others. Is anyone using it already? Any complaints/suggestions?
Also, do you know of any other steering wheel remote I may look at?

Thank you!

history shows that the pioneer is likely to be compatible, while the blaupunkt is not.

That's too bad...
I can only hope that RC-10 works, since -if I understand well- the thread you pointed me to is referring to RC-09 . But I doubt, and anyway I must definitely try before I buy it.

I had a Blau (well, have it installed at home) that came with the RC 09 standard; and zthe RC 10 is claimed to work as well; so probably both of them won't work. But is it possible to change this in hijack or did I misintrprete something?

In the topic mentioned before quite a few ppl could not get the RC-09 to work because it seems to send IR data at a frequency which is not recevied by the empeg IR receiver. So you can't even use hijack to reprogram the ir codes because there is no ir code received by the empeg at all.

Anyway, if you have the RC-09, why don't you test it as well? Just start the code detection utility in hujack and start pushing buttons on the rc-09. If the empeg receives anything it will tell you on the screen.

Yes, I should test it, but I don't have batteries right now. Will buy some soon, as I use the Blau again and will post results.
