1993 Isuzu Trooper install - 17/07/2003 15:17

Well, I decided that my Trooper with 113,000 miles on it would live long enough for me to do a full-blown empeg install. Here's the truck:

Here's a pic of the empeg in there (I am using a black sled) :

I am using an Infinity Basslink X for bass:

It has the remote bass control mounted in the lower DIN pocket:

It sounds pretty awesome. All the speakers were replaced. I have Memphis 6½" in the front and Focal (forgot the size) in the back. I have a Memphis 4 channel amp under the driver's seat.

So what are you driving to the meet this year?

Maybe I should trailer the Saab behind the Trooper.

Most likely it will be the Saab again unless there is overwhelming demand to see the Trooper.

Thanks!

It actually just passed NY State emissions this morning after the 3rd attempt this week. Empeg install and being able to drive it legally all in one week! Excellent.

I'm probably showing my ignorance, but what's the little dial in the pocket in bottom of the last picture?

Remote gain control for the Infinity Basslink powered sub.

Cool. There're some radio stations I'd like to have that for. The ones that crank the bass way up - very annoying. The women DJs sound like they've been smoking two packs a day since 8th grade.

Are you using the Rio Car tuner module? If so, take a look at the Hijack FAQ and look for the config.ini entry "disable_bassboost_fm" or something like it.

No, I never got the tuner. I just use my old Nak head unit. It seemed the best solution at the time for me, and still works well. And so many of the other aftermarket stereos look too much like video games - my nak's at least subdued.

thanks anyway,
