2000 Toyota Celica GT-S

2000 Toyota Celica GT-S - 23/09/2003 20:34

Today, I had my existing aftermarket head unit and equalizer removed, to make way for the empeg. The local Sound Advice refused to touch the empeg, so I have to install it myself.
However, I'm at a loss in my search for a harness kit for this car. I'd rather not tear into the existing harness, since I'm probably going for a new car in a year or so anyway, and I'd like to be able to put the factory system back in quickly and painlessly.
The "70-1761" Metra kit claims to be appropriate, but from the terrible pictures of it on the net, I really can't see how it would help me. What I think I really need is a connector that adapts the one I've attached to the post into a pigtail, or even better, into the ISO connector on the back of the empeg sled.
Anyone have any ideas, or has someone completed a Celica install successfully?
I can't turn to Sound Advice for help, since they've washed their hands of the whole thing.

Thanks,
--Defiler.

P.S.
If you need a better shot of what the dash looks like right now, here's the enormous original straight from the camera.

Try this. And don't worry about the picture. If it says it's for a Toyota Celica, it is.

Connect the harness, then solder or butt-connect the appropriate wires from the empeg's ISO connector (power, accessory, ground, dimmer, amp remote, cell phone mute, or only the ones you need) to the wires from the Toyota harness. Make sure you cover any unused wires afterward.

Aah.. I was avoiding that one, because I saw that it was meant for installs that keep the factory amp. It hadn't occured to me that I could just not connect those wires. Heh.
I'll order one of those, and give it a shot. Thanks!

WAIT!
Hang on a sec, I think I might have what you need all wired up for an empeg as well.
Let me dig around the web and confirm that it is what you need.

edit: nope, what I have lying around is something completly different from when i had my empeg installed in my corolla, must put it in the FS section at some point....

DeadFire: Thanks for the link. That connector worked perfectly. The empeg is installed and working fine. Just in case anyone else stumbles in here with a Celica.

Great. I'm just glad one of my suggestions was actually useful.
