Beetle install - 07/08/2000 05:11

Well, here are some pictures (only one at the moment, I'll get some more pics later today and edit up the message) of the empeg install in my beetle.

cambscar did a very neat job of the amp & sub (Kicker 405 - 4x40w+1x240w/Phase linear 10" flat subwoofer) including making a very neat & small box which means I still have some room in the back!

The amp is fitted to a carpet-covered wood mount, not the back of the seat: I can still fold the seats and the wires are all run under this mount, and the whole system can be removed without marking the car. There's the remote subwoofer gain control hidden under the dash too!

Hey Hugo - And what the hell is under the carpet on the floor? The engine?

Now seriously - It looks really clean. I'd like to have it that clean, too. But it'd take some mor installation time I think.

Today I have to install a Sony headunit and amp and CD-Changer into my girlfriend's new car...
And hopefully later this week I can install the Mk2 into my car . Maybe I should rethink my install and make it a bit cleaner in the trunk...

Reg#948 - already ordered a Mk2.

I see that VW is still doing the upholstery on their rear deck lids the same way they always have. My old GTI had this, too... it got worse over time...
