Now, this photo proves the point I was making in another thread. The empeg looks perfect in that dash, compared to the other aftermarket stereo. I mean look at how gaudy and out-of-place the aftermarket stereo is.

To me, the empeg doesn't look "cheap" in that photo, it looks elegant.

Tony you are so right !! The Alpine really looks kinda cheap, it's high quality, but NO design. The Empeg looks like all high grade stuff should look like. Sturdy, beautifull and purpose build. I will post some more pics in the future. See ya

Hmmm.. maybe you should wait till the tuner module is shipped and then replace the alpine with an amp in the boot. Then your Golf would look perfect...

I also have to totally agree... I always liked all the flashiness that aftermarket stereos have provided... but now after reading these comments and looking at the last pic posted of this VW my mind has finally realised what I like best... the empeg!

Guys, you are both right. I still had the Alpine from my last car and it the CD sound is really good and has a 4 volt output. The Empeg look much better. But I have a better idea ! I will not buy the tuner module, but will replace the CD-player with a Alpine 16:9 automatic display with: GPS/DVD/CD/Tuner. That should take care of that ugly extra DIN opening ! Pics will follow when all is installed and the "Xmas tree" playing. S

I allready have a amp in the boot ( two soundstreams, driving Boston Pro speakers and Phase Linear 10 sub) the Alpine is for playing CD's and listening to the radio. I know looks crapy.

I take it you drive a golf TDI? :)

The old-skool mark1 looks perfect in my golf dash, all retro and such.
