I'm in the process of integrating my empeg w/ my infiniti G35, which incidently is fully built with twin turbos. I currently have a cluster of 60mm gauges around, but would like to monitor a few more things (wideband a/f, oil pressure/temp, etc) utilizing the display of the empeg.

Has anyone done this? I think there are a few companies out there that make boxes that have a sort of auxillary out that could be inputted into the empeg via serial.

Shonky started work on an OBD interface, but I don't know how far along it is.
Here's the thread.

Yeah, ODB doesn't provide the information that i'm looking for however... Looking for a way to interface to a device that can read from external sensors and output the values via serial.

Not very. It would seem that Australian BMWs (well my 98 one at least) have OBD disabled and only talk to the BMW diagnostic system. It does provide some basic data but not much. I don't have any real details on the protocol so I'd have to analyse it from scratch.

I don't particularly want to break my A$60k car. BMW parts can be very expensive, particularly M3 bits.

Also, my license is probably getting rubbed out for 6 months very soon, so I'm considering selling it rather than have it sit in the garage

This sounds like an interesting story!

Most likely those sneaky cameras down under done it again..

No camera - usually they are pretty easy to see well in advance.

There was an officer supporting the laser that got me. Unfortunately it was a stupidly fast speed and that means 6 month automatic suspension of license down here. I honestly don't believe I was going that fast but with speeding here it's guilty until proven innocent. I have to prove the laser was faulty.

I was not (and still aren't) a happy camper, that's for sure. I'd only just (like 15 minutes beforehand) picked it up from the dealer after spending a lot of money on repairs...

Nice little hijack done to my topic..

Noone interested in a such device?

Interested, but lacking skills.
A clever guy I work with tapped into his HD V-rod bus and deciphered the signals there, then successfully created a custom user display- writing his own machine code.
He made about 25 'pre-production' units, but it hasn't been picked up for general market. Google 'v-gauge'.
In his research, he also found that there is a wide variety of signal types and a variety of data available on different OBD systems. It's apparently not so simple as OBD1 vs OBD2.
Seems custom code is your only choice... from what I've gathered, anyway.
