Eq that changes with volume

Eq that changes with volume - 06/03/2001 13:54

I have read in the past that people had trouble making their empeg sound good at both low volume and high volume. Why not modify the eq as the volume is turned up? Lower volumes could have boosted bass and as the volume gets turned up, the base could be cut to prevent clipping.

This is the precise definition of a dynamic loudness control. The empeg has this feature already.

I would like to be able to change the loudness cutoff points myself, though. It would be more useful to me if it did that.

So when you get close to 0 db it cuts the bass down so there is no clipping?

Yes, pretty much. Again, that's the whole definition of a dynamic loudness control.

My problem is that I want to adjust where the upper and lower cutoff points are in the volume band. Right now they're hard-coded.

definable loudness settings would be a great addition. As much as i think dynamic EQ would be good also, I cant help thinking that it's too difficult to code and then control from within the player.
