Wish for New Emplode - 13/04/2001 19:14

Will the New Emplode for Verion 1.1 have a way to hide certain keys, Like the delete button from the main Menu, I can see a problem happening if you have you Empeg @ a party and you let people choose thier own songs from your 1400+ Music Playlist CD's they may just press the wrong button and "DELETE" stuff.

Just asking.

Why would you be running Emplode at a party? Emplode is only for editing the files stored on the player, not for choosing tracks. Leave Emplode and the computer at home, and just bring the empeg. You and the other party guests choose tracks on the empeg from the remote control or the front panel, and there's no delete button.

Tony, That is not valid how do the people at the party know what you have on the Empeg? I could print our a CSV for them but if you have Emplode with a computer screen they can see all of the CD playlist that you have and make thier selections from there.

Ernst,
Displayserver seems like a valid way to go, since you'd already have a second computer to do emplode anyway (although this assumes a network). Then if you use winamp (or another player) to manage the party playlist you wouldn't need to disturb the playback while fiddling with the playlists. People could browse the pages (everyone knows how to do that) and pick what they like. The only difference would be that you'd use the line out from the PC instead of the lineouts from the empeg. I guess this wouldn't work if the PC were in another room though. Just a thought.
