M3U Importing & Dupe Checking

M3U Importing & Dupe Checking - 02/06/2001 17:03

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but I'm sure it has. Once thing that I think emplode should get is the capability to import m3u's and based on that, copy the mp3's on the computer into the play list. It would make my life a lot easier in copying play lists over.

One other thing that would be nifty is a duplicate file / song checker. So say if I import my play list, and my friends play list, and we both have similar songs on there, emplode will automatically recognize that there is already a song of the same name, title, artist, size, etc, and use the song that is already on the empeg. That would also save a lot of time for dupe checking by hand.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Thanks

currently, is there a way to enter the same song into two playlists and NOT have it take up double the disk space? (is there a way to just add a "pointer" to some other song in the middle of a playlist?)

Yeah, you can do this by copying the song from one play list to another. By selecting Edit Copy, or pressing CTRL C, and then pasting in the playlist you also want it in by going to Edit Paste, or pressing CTRL V

This is default behaviour. When you copy songs (or lists) around in emplode, you are just linking them. The problem is that emplode won't recognize duplicate if you copy the same tune twice, to different lists, from your computer.

This is discussed in excruciating detail in The FAQ. Read it. Learn it. Live it.

Regarding M3U imports... There will be some M3U functionality in 1.1 as I recall, but I can't check it right now as I'm running 1.03 for a while in preparation for its release.

1.1, Dude.

Woo hoo! If anyone is not running the 1.03 on the alpha group, and if it isn't against the NDA (which I'm sure it is so I'm prolly sol), can you reveal the m3u features in 1.1?

Thanks!

I'd imagine you would be running 1.03 on one of your empegs and 1.1 on the other.
