Thank you for random visual switching

Thank you for random visual switching - 11/02/2002 05:20

I've been asking for this since I came here, so this time I just want to thank you for the great job. I waited a couple of days to properly test the autochanging of visual in my weekend trip, and I have to say: Empeg team, you're fantastic!

I'm really enjoying this too! So thanks also to you and others for suggesting it!

Random Visual Switching - sounds interesting, but I can't find out how to do it - any clues guys?

Cheers,

The clue is, upgrade to 2.0b11 and then look in the visuals menu on the player.

I like this, too - like having a huge selection of random screensavers, it's great attention grabber for people wandering by my desk.

Just one question - should explicitly selecting a new visual turn off the random switching? I was a bit surprised that the visual I chose turned to something else at the end of the track. I'd prefer it if Random was treated as a mutually-exclusive choice to the other visuals (several choices, really, since there are different Random Visual modes), in the same way that Funnelweb is mutually exclusive with Casualty. What do the rest of you think?

Re: Thank you for random visual switching - 11/02/2002 08:49

Well,
I'd rather leave it as it is, meaning that if I change visual while in auto-change mode, I want to remain in autochange, so that whenever it is time (end of song or timeout) the visual changes again. If instead I want to get out of the auto-change mode I'd go to the proper visual menu and switch off the autochange function. Just my opinion, of course.

One thing that got to me is that the empeg doesn't remember to go back into Auto-Switch mode when you power it on next. I usually find myself driving down the road, switching to visuals to get a bit of peripheral vision distraction; then getting more distracted because it hasn't changed yet! I havn't quite memorised the sequence to turn it back on either.

Just a thought . . .

Great work. I love it.
But i'm curious. Should it play all visuals randomly while in normal mode and randomly play your favorite visuals while in favorites mode? If that behaviour was not intedned then it would be a nice addition.

Are you sure about that? Mine has been in autoswitch mode for the past week, in-car and out, and I haven't touched my settings in that time.
