I'm wondering if it would be very difficult to display movies on the empeg? That would be way cooler than cool if I could load up mpegs and such. Of course the movie would have to be in 4 colors, but that's kind of a given. I'm thinking music videos, or even those cheesy demos that other inferior stereos play in the stores (such as the race car one, or the one that shows the swimming dolphin).

Or better yet, have a video output so you could watch those digital movies on a tv.

Someone should make a boot logo with a Pioneer Penguin being beatten down by Tux. Ok, I'll stop being juvenile now, really.

I think we worked out that there's just about enough processor bandwidth for quarter sized MPEG 2 if nothing else is running.

John R got a simple movie player running which used time dithering to produce quite a wide range of greyscales. It looked quite cool.

And it could play 2.35:1 widescreen movies at full height.

Someone code this into a userland app!

Anyone who wants to can get pr0n working as their bootup animation. But it'd be a bit of a tough one to explain to wives/girlfriends/dates...
