MP3 corrupted by upload... - 21/08/1999 08:29

I've just had an odd thing happen. An MP3 that I uploaded had a few places where the music stopped, and then restarted 10-20 seconds later. I tried the MP3 with winamp and it was fine.
It was uploaded from a UDF formatted CD (Which is dog slow, so I stopped using UDF). I copied the file to the hard disc, uploaded it again and all was well..
I noticed that it was a faster upload from the Hard disc, which leads me to suspect that emplode doesn't like to be kept waiting by slow discs =)

Reading the file from slow media shouldn't cause the emplode software any problems and shouldn't cause the kind of corruption you seem to be getting.

However, we've made some fixes to the download protocol, mainly to improve the stability of serial downloads but they will help USB downloads too. These improvements should make it into the next beta release.

I've had some other random errors (Like the shuffle option not changing from off) all of which have been cured by power off and reboot...
Maybe that's what it was in the first place...

(Like the shuffle option not changing from off)

This is another problem we've yet to get to the bottom of. It seems to work most of the time but fails occasionally. It also affects the Information option - the information window appears and disappears but the On/Off text stays the same.

Display bug - 23/08/1999 15:54

I've got the same problem - I'll select something like information on/off or shuffle on/off and the display won't update with the new setting. I can tell it's on from the way the unit it acting but it's there.

I've also had times where the display seems to lock in a certain state when changing the volume - I'll finish changing the volume and the volume display won't go away. Haven't been able to replicate it reliable but it has happened about three times in the past few days...

I get the same volume display problem. I thinik it happens when you lowering the volume somewhere around -20 or -39 dB.
