beta6 - 03/09/1999 14:23

I've just finished uploading beta6 to the upgrades website.

Unfortunately hierarchical playlists didn't make it into this release but Hugo hopes you'll be so excited about the new "play by year" feature that you won't notice (you'll be too busy listening to your college favourites) :-)

Bug reports to [email protected] as usual please.

I may not be speaking on behalf of empeg above :-)

Feh, the problem with that is most of my music (on the empeg at least) is within two years of each other.

I personally would have preferred hierarchical playlists took precedence over silly "play by year" selection, but I'm a whiner. :)

Hierarchical is coming, but I put the playlist code in for play-by-year (which was a feature of the original mp3mobile) in and so Mike didn't have an excuse for not adding the UI necessary. The UI for hierarchical playlists is rather more complicated, hence the delay.

And you let Mike go on holiday with out finishing this ;-)

How is this going to work - vertical scrolling?

As to the play by year - most of my ID3 tags have the wrong
dates as none of the info at CDDB had the year set. I'll have
to sit down one day and fill all of this in, not to mention
fixing the truncated ID3 tags....

Can we have a feature in Implode to use the filename rather than
the ID3 tag so we don't get truncated names.

Hmm, if an ID3 tag is present it'll generally use this in preference to the filename as the ID3 has more info in it; maybe some intelligence could be built in. It won't be in the next few releases though as there are more important bits to go in (like the hierarchical browsing)

There's a freeware utility I like that lets you set ID3 info easily and quickly - It's called MP3Manager. Check out:
