problems with kenwood-remote - 04/11/2002 05:26

i've got a problem with my mk2 and the kenwood-remote..
i've already figured out the problem a while ago but i thought it may be a weak battery in the remote unit.

the problem shows up as following:
sometimes when i press any key on the remote it's recognized by the empeg, other times it is not. i replaced the battery with a totally new one - but i still have the same problem.
sometimes about 3 or 4 button presses are accepted, then i can press as many buttons as i want and nothing happens at all..

i've got the v2.0 b13 and the hijack-kernel 2.91 installed.

anyone an idea what the problem could be?

yes, i tried those things - als i've told - i've got v2b13, a new battery and today i tried to bend the contacts a little bit.. i tried the remote while the player was on the table connected to AC power... and i was glad it worked for every keypress...
but then i put it back into the car... and it didn't work any more... so it seems it has something to do when in the sled... so maybe it is any software-related problem?
any further idea? should i maybe uninstall the hijack kernel? any other things to do?

If you have another compatible remote from some other equipment you could try to see if it is the remote or the player. If you don't have another Kenwood/compatible remote just disregard this suggestion

Actually, it can be any consumer IR remote in the proper frequency range with the Hijack "Button Codes Display" feature.
