Sync Error

Sync Error - 10/08/2000 00:13

This is the first sync error I got (I'm syncing directly from CD to Mk2 via ethernet).
The error was:

The synchronisation process failed during stage 5:||Error 80070057: The paramet

Can't see more than this on my screen. I'll try again. That doesn't really disturb me too much since this is the first error and the last CD which has enough place on the Mk2.

I'm not totally sure it the above error was a problem with emplode or the Mk2. I could also be that my WinNT had problems with the CD-Rom as it was not acessible any more after the sync-error.
I had to reboot an after that everything went fine again.

I've also had (this morning) my first sync error for a looooonnggg time, over serial:

The synchronisation process failed during stage 5:||Error 0xFFFFFF92

As well as the fact that the failure occurred, there's even a bug in the error message as there is obviously some extraneous character in there represented by the two vertical bars!

Additionally I have to say that I run Beta12c - I'll upgrade tomorrow - when I have the (hopefully right) nullmodem cable with me.

Re: Sync Error - 10/08/2000 04:06

This is a windows error, it looks like emplode made an API call with an incorrect parameter value.

From winapi.h

//
// MessageId: E_INVALIDARG
//
// MessageText:
//
// One or more arguments are invalid
//
#define E_INVALIDARG _HRESULT_TYPEDEF_(0x80070057L)

Yep, the same error here, after an integrety check over USB: and the error message in emplode has the same two funny characters. After CtrlAltDel (without killing anything) W98 found new hardware and wanted to search for drivers.

Prior to this failing, I aborted a sync after 30 minutes: no display on player (black);emplode telling that it was controlling the disk; the disk (in the player) active (ratling); nothing else happening.

Also I found the integrety very check slow and and timed it next time around: 7 minutes before the progess bar started to show; after 16 inutes the progress bar was at 100%; one minute later restart of the player; everything OK

Had a different error message with the same bars, and I had a scroll bar at the bottom of the message window! (I think this was when I was playing on one of our Win2000 machines, but I'm not certain). It appears that the two non-printing characters (black vertical bars) are probably meant to be the carrage return that wraps the error message. Remember empeg changed the error messages so that you can now copy and paste them. You can scroll along and read the rest of the error message. I'm sure this will be fixed soon.

You can scroll along and read the rest of the error message.

Forgot about that: will try it next time.

Re: Sync Error - 10/08/2000 09:04

The bars are because the read-only edit box doesn't display LF characters properly. They have to be CRLF pairs. Some of the error messages weren't formatted correctly. I've fixed it now.

The fix should be in a maintenance release at some point.

As other people have said, you can just scroll along to see the rest of the message.

Told ya so.

Re: Sync Error - Stage 10? - 15/08/2000 23:12

First sync error ever here as well (see attached).

Apparently during Stage 10. emplode let me continue, but the unit sat on the 'synchronizing' display for some time, not moving.

I let it be for a good 10 minutes and it eventually came to its senses. My recently-uploaded tracks all seem to work.

Stage 10 is part of the download after the upload. If it fails at this point, your music has still been successfully uploaded.

If it does this again, try to capture a log file, and email it to [email protected]. It'll probably end up on my desk, and I'll look into it.
