funny character in Informative visuals - 05/10/2000 22:31

Hi,

All the Informative visuals scroll Artist: Title across the screen. The first time the text is scrolled it is normal. All subsequent times it is prefixed by a single funny character (i.e not a letter, number, or any character I recognize). The character is constant for each song but varies between songs. Not all songs exhibit this behaviour. There's no obvious correlation in the tags of the songs that do, they all appear normal in Emplode.

Seen on a mk2, 1.0 consumer, 1.01-rc2 developer and 1.01-final developer.

This has been reported before. It's not a funny character, it's graphics blitter from the frame buffer, and it's related to the variable-width font calculations somehow.

Toby thought he had fixed it a long time ago (I thought he had, too), but it seems to have crept back in somehow.

I remember it coming up on the BBS before but I've never seen the problem go away.

Me neither, I noticed it first in beta 10 and ALL versions after that. But since I don't use this visual a lot (maybe I would if it didn't bounce or zoom) I don't really care for now (my guess is it will eventually be fixed).
