Delete from Emplode

Delete from Emplode - 23/11/2001 07:44

I just pasted an entire directory into a new playlist in emplode, and then I deleted one tune which I didn't want there. When "synchronising", it still uploades my deleted tune!
(It is in the soup-view)

This may be the way it is designed to be, but is it "correct"?

Yes, this is by design for 2.0b3. Deleting a tune from a playlist does not delete it from the player. You must delete the tune from the soup view before it will disappear from the player.

Later revisions will hopefully have more deletion options. Not certain how they're going to implement it, I'm curious to see.

Well, where is the next Europe meet planned for and when? I do plan to (hopefully) be in Europe next year and it would be kind of cool if I could fit it into my travels. :)

Hi Roger,

I don't like that UI, I find it confusing to understand what will happen, because the text with the checkbox contradicts the earlier text (which should apply regardless of whether or not the checkbox is selected). Instead of a checkbox, I'd prefer some radio buttons, something like
1 - Only remove from playlist(s) (leave music on the player)
2 - Remove music from player completely
You'd have to rehash the text a little as well, obviously.

Hi.

I would also like a setting that mimics the way 1.03 handles deletions, something like a "remove completely if this is the last playlist reference to the song", or a global setting to "remove file completely on removal of last reference in a playlist".
I'm not absolutely sure wether this would be used much once we get the soup views on the player itself, but until then, I would certainly use it a lot.

Well, figure out the UI, and I'll think about implementing it.

In the delete message box, change the layout to some text and some radio buttons. Like this:
What do you want to delete?

(o) this reference only (not the file)
( ) this reference, and the file if it was the last reference.
( ) all references (but not the file)
( ) all references including the file itself

[Apply to this item] [Apply to all items] [Skip this item] [Cancel all]

Not extremely nice, but a good start I think.

I'm not making any more changes to this dialog box for v2.0, apart from possibly a minor rewording.

Ok, I hope you keep it in mind for any post 2.0 versions though.
