Info Seek - 24/12/2001 09:56

Just installed 2.0b7 and I've come across a bug. Go to the Info Seek screen and you'll see the name of the track that's currently playing at the bottom. Now go to Now and Next, skip a few tracks and go back to the Info Seek screen You should see that the name of the track at the bottom is still on the track that was playing before. It hasn't changed. Anyone else see this? I'll send this to bugs@empeg too.

Yes, I have seen this one. There are also some other bugs with the new info:seek screen and we're discussing them on the Alpha team mailing list right now.

For example, some users have a problem with the seek screen not working at all, or crashing the player. We're trying to get to the bottom of it.

Yeah, I've had it reboot a couple of times in the Seek screen. Don't know under what circumstances though. If the Alpha team are aware of my other bug is there any need for me to report it to bugs@empeg?

Ah, just found another one. Player was in Info Seek screen, current track finished and started playing next track, I didn't want to listen to this track so I skipped forward to the next track. Info Seek screen is now completely blank. If I skip back to the previous track it shows OK. If I skip forward again the screen's blank. If I skip forward another one it shows the track name correctly. Maybe there's something wrong with that track. Gone back to Track details screen now and it looks fine, except that the pause symbol is showing and it's not paused. BTW I am using ynot's newly compiled Kernel with Mark Lord's Hijack code. Don't know whether this is significant.

Many of my tracks don't work with the seek tool, they just display a blank screen. I haven't had and reboots though.

I was probably a little premature in releasing this feature - it's had very little testing.

Hey, that's what betas are for, right?

Just so the BBS folks know, we Alpha folks only saw Beta7 on Saturday/Sunday (there was a problem with the file server on Friday), and most of us didn't discover the new Info screen until Sunday night. We knew it didn't work perfectly, but hey, you got a beta for Christmas, so no complaining.

Speaking of Christmas, anyone notice the new Info Tex Snow visual?

Yes, I did, just perfect timing, I assume that was included on purpose! :) I would sligthly improve the way snow lays down on the song title, but that's alrady great as it is!

Toby already said he intends to improve the snowfall algorithm.
