Slow search in 2.0Beta

I've been noticing this for a while, but haven't seen any info posted on it.

In 1.x, searches were fast. You started searching, pressed a letter on the remote, and your choices popped right up. Made it easy to search while not really looking at the screen

With 2.x, I'm constantly finding that when I glance at the screen, it's still catching up my keystrokes...

Is there debug code inplace that would slow down the searches on 2.x?

I get the feeling that it misses my keystrokes a lot on the search screen and I have to press them a second time...
