Just for the record, I've attached the "stuck jiffies" bugfix patch that is in the latest Hijack kernels, and which has also been emailed to
[email protected]
This seems to have cured the issue (knock on a west coast rainforest).

OK, it hasn't broken anything yet (though i haven't left it running for any length of time), so I've checked it in and it will appear in the next beta.

Excellent!
Actually, Hijack currently has an even more conservative fix than the one I sent in, but I cannot prove the other parts are necessary (I don't think they are).
Perhaps I'll nuke the extras from Hijack just to verify that they are having no effect.
