Choice is good.

I remember reading an article about "buying psychology" related to choices. I wish I could remember where I saw it. Basically, given the choice between two products in a line priced at $50 and $75, most people would buy the $50 model unless they really required the additional features of the $75 model. Add a third model at $85 and suddenly the vast majority of people start buying the $75 model, ie most people generally choose to spend one model down from the top. It is all about justification apparently - the same people who would previously not justified the extra 50%, now cannot justify spending $50 to buy the model which must obviously be really lacking because there are two models better.

Strange but allegedly true.
