From the same computer with the same cable, same hub, etc.? Or is the Windows PC running on different hardware?
First thing to do is troubleshoot the network connectivity of the suse/kde system, whether it's running on the same hardware or not. If windows works, then the empeg is working and you're talking about some kind of an IP address or networking infrastructure problem. Do you have other computers that you can connect up and try to access on the same LAN?
