OK… someone please help if they can.

I just recently bought a Netgear ME102 wireless access point. My intention for this was to use it to connect directly to my Rio Receiver so I can place the receiver anywhere in my apartment ( I did have an HPNA card and my 2 receivers were connected through it but for some reason my HPNA card and the Ethernet connection couldn’t peacefully coexist and the Ethernet was more important). Anyway, I realized quickly that I need a crossover cable to connect from the Rio to the ME102. BUT I cannot get the ME102 to connect to my wireless network. I am running an SMC wireless router and can connect throughout the house but I cannot get an IP address assigned to the ME102 wirelessly. I have tried changing the operational status from bridge to access point and everywhere in between. I tried with a hub (set up per the instructions) and with the Rio and no change. Do I have to have another ME102 connected to my router just to make the connection? And I’m really confused as to how to set up the ME102… bridge mode is what I was understanding I needed but is this right? Any help would be greatly appreciated…
