The best fix for this display cable is to completely remove the old connector from the displayboard and replace it. This requires careful desoldering of the existing 20-pin connector there.

Replace it with a pin-header (same as what's on the empeg mainboard), and then crimp up a new cable using identical mating connectors on each end (again, same as the original mainboard end connector).

Digikey #3M1120-ND for the pin header,
Digikey #ASA20K-ND for the two crimp-on connectors,
and a length of high density ribbon cable (20 conductor).
