the nearest hotel is good value (though there are plenty of others walkable if people want to get something more upmarket)

The trouble, from our point of view, with Travelodges is:

(a)They don't tend to have bars, and it's nice to flop down and have a good chat late into the night, when late opening pubs are not a good option, it's been a good feature of Amersfoort. Besides, those that are familiar with me, know that I get panicky and disorientated more than a metre from a bar!

(b)They don't do deals, apart from advertised promotions (Or so they told me when I was their ad. agency).

It would be nice, and logistically ideal, if everyone was in the same hotel. Most of the other chains and independants will probably do a deal if we know the size of the party.

Beg pardon, I note that this Travelodge has a bar, so it's probably fine for our purposes. Other comments remain pertinent.
