I have had an idea about lighted buttons how about a little cresent ) next to the buttons on the display so you have a rough aiming point at night this of course would be a switcable option from emplode and would only apear when the lights are on.

Not a perfect solution but once you have gudied your fingers to the buttons it is easy to work out which one is which
