Mark, this is my situation as well. I decided it was worth trying to get a 60GB unit so I could have more space sooner without cracking the case and voiding the warranty. At some point, if I'm feeling flush, I might even upgrade my off-warranty Mk2 and clone them.

One question, however (and I hope it's not a depressing one!). You note a "first price drop" price of $599 US I just found my invoice e-mail from ~October 23rd and the "price drop" price for my 10GB Mk2a was $699 US. Did I miss something?
