So set your visual to the clock and then you can long-press the bottom button to jump to it and back.

Uh, what about Bitts suggestion? No remote involved, and if you really don't use the visuals (only use the full page info modes) then you're just that long press of the bottom button (on the player) from the clock. Another long press and it hides again.
