"2.) During an EmpegClone attempt, it would either:
a.) be "unable to talk to a unit that claims to be connected" or
b.) look like its going to start writing to the MkII, and then crap out with an error message that I would expect from Microsoft but not from Empeg: "Failure: -2"

Item "a" above can be solved by simply rebooting each empeg before detection; I can't figure "b" out.
I'm getting the same notice upon trying to clone my mk I to my mk II. Same error under windows 2000 and windows ME, on two separate computers.

Mk I software: 11a/consumer
Mk II software: 11c/consumer

I'm in contact with [email protected] - hopefully we'll have a solution soon!

The Mk II looks Nice!!

I'm beginning to think that there's a configuration issue concerning second drives. The MkI used to have two IDE controllers. My understanding of the MkII was that it used a single IDE controller, however, I still see LOTS of stuff referencing "/dev/hdc" or "/dev/hdc4", which would be the secondary controller, instead of "/dev/hdb" or "/dev/hdb4" which would be the second drive on the primary controller.

Do you have a two-drive unit?

Did something get misconfigured in the 11c build? (using default MkI values instead of MkII values?)

Ah, well, I can't even get a sync yet, so I'm stuck so far.

dredd,

I re-synched my mk I with the newest emplode (11a)after installing the 11a consumer release software on it. ( i was running 10something on it). after I resynched it, the -2 msg went away.

I haven't synched my mk II at all.

dunno what to tell ya then, thats what got the ball rolling for me. I'll let you know if I can get emplode to synch with my mk II as soon as my tunes get transferred. :)
