Maybe im just an idiot or maybe im just frustrated with this thing and cant figure it out, but I have a new external firewire hardrive, and its supposed to be plug and play, I plug it in, computer knows its there and is recoginized as a HDD in device manager, but I cant figure out how to access it for the life of me, please help

Probably need to assign a drive letter in Disk Management.

What OS are you running?

You might check the device manager to make sure your FW card/inputs drivers are present.
It should be located automatically by the OS and mounted if it can be recognised. Check in Disk management to see if it's there and format it if neccessary.

I appreciate the help guys, I just needed to format it through disk manager, everythings working good now.
