This isn't exactly Empeg related but I was hoping that the community might be able to help nonetheless...

I've been searching for a program that would let me catalog my MP3s to a SQL database but so far, I haven't been able to find one. I need the Title, Artist, Album, Genre, Track # and the complete path of where the file resides as fields plus some empty fields for times played, playlist membership and whatnot. Emplode's export to CSV works quite well but is missing the path information to where the file originally resides on my NT server which is understandable. Anyone know of such a program?

Also, has anyone tried coding a shoutcast output applet for the Empeg?

I wrote a similar program a while back (not Empeg related). I've been considering doing the same thing here. I'm pretty sure it could be done in less than a day by anyone semi-skilled.

I could give you some perl to do it, but it's ugly.

Mike Oliphant's DDJ (Digital DJ) does most of this in concert with Grip and MySQL. This of course assumes you are running Linux. (edit:: I don't think it is as expandable as you'd like, but there's a new verion out -- haven't used it -- so thought it might be worth a look. When I used it, I used it with PHPMyAdmin to clean up entries, and I expect you could use that to add all the new fields you want.)

mp3sql will do it, if perl doesn't scare you. There was also another script I used like 4 years ago to do the same thing (also Perl based), but that was a lot of lost brain cells ago and can't remember the name of it.

mp3sql had (some problem) which caused me to not use it. I wish I remembered what it was.
