So I want to be able to send files to my roommates computer over the router we have set up to share the cable modem. Anyone have any ideas on the easiest way to do this without having to share folders? We're both using Win2k. Thanks!

I would just use AIM.... If you have multiple files to send just put them all in one folder.

I can't use AIM, that what I normally use, but I think since we have the same ip it doesn't want to work.. unless someone has some ideas?

why not share a folder on his computer and you send to him. that way you dont have to worry about him accessing yer files. or.. download a quick free ftp server.

Presumably you have seperate Email Accounts ? Can you not email him the files ... or are you breaking size limits on your email accounts doing that ?

Yeah, there's size limits on both our emails.. AIM was so easy too, I wish I could get it working...

What's wrong with sharing folders? Anyways, it you don't want to share folders, and tcp/ip transfer method should work. FTP or SCP would be the standards and I'm sure you can find a simple windows server for either.

What's wrong with sharing folders?

Because if one of the machines got infected with a worm/virus/trojan then the other one would quickly get infected (because they would have write access to shares on each other's machines).

Well, that way seems a little too complicated for my roommate, but we did find out that Trillian did the job. Thanks again!
