I would like to purchase a new or used complete kit (mounting kit, manuals, etc) for a Empeg Mk2a, I would also like a FM tuner kit with this, and would prefer a unit with around 30gig storage, if the price is right would consider differently.

I'm hoping to spend less than $500 US, and am located in the Midwestern US.

Note, I dont come into this forum very often.

let me get this straight : you want a 30gig Mk2a + tuner for less than $500?

good luck!

You'd be pretty lucky if you were to find the empeg alone for that price.

I believe the going rate for a 20 gb is around 550 and the rate for a tuner is 275ish. I say this not to burst your bubble but just to be honest. On the other hand, anything is possible.

I appreciate your honesty. I'm new to all of this Empeg world. A friend of mine from this forum has one, but perhaps my cost expections are not the 'norm' here.

I'm flexable on price/product if the deal is right.

Call me crazy, but what should i expect?

Could I hope to find a Mk2a with 10gb and tuner for around $500 or is that still too much to ask?

I know next to nothing about this equipment, I'll admit.

Since hard drives are easy to come by and swap out, disk space has little affect on the price of a second-hand empeg. I would say $500 without tuner module would be a good price for a 10gb model.

You're looking at at least $200 for the tuner.

You should also consider how much you really need the tuner, if cost is an issue. I don't have an "Empeg" tuner, but I do run through another head unit, which provides me with a radio, if necessary. However I think I've turned it on three times since installing the Empeg (all three of which were less than 5 minute sessions as I realized I didn't have to listen to commercials and DJ's). Since getting the Empeg I've moved to a new city and still don't know what stations are good here.

If you can afford the cash you should buy an Empeg, tuner or no. It has enhanced my music listening experience more than anything else I've ever purchased.

well i really do use the FM radio quite a bit right now, as i often get sick of what i have on cd/mp3, its really too bad this is so expensive, but i definately apprecaite all the useful info people are giving me.

I guess i should try for a Mk2a with all stuff (mounting kit, manuals, software, cables, etc) then and no tuner. If its pretty easy to upgrade the HD then size is no matter.

Yes, upgrading the HD is pretty easy thanks to the outstanding Empeg FAQ.

I would try to get my hands on an Empeg first if I were you. And, if you've got the patience to wait for it, you can always buy one of Patrick's Empeg Tuner kits.

$500 for a 10gig Mk2a should be do-able, but 10gig Empeg's have become rare.
