I have a question:
When ordering from the Netherlands,
do you have to pay VAT and if so,
how much is the percentage of it?

I have never known how this thing work when ordering from another European country etc...
I really need to know how much i will have to pay allin for the palyer before ordering it...

Thanks in advance

As an individual you pay 17.5% VAT on the entire order.

If you're a registered business, and you provide your VAT number, you don't have to pay it.

17,5 % VAT on the entire order is huge :(

What kind of company do you have to have to be able to provide your VAT number when purchasing the Empeg in the Netherlands?

Or is there a way of avoiding the 17,5% VAT?

The VAT would really KILL ME :-(
(want to buy the 18 GB version)

...any trading entity legally recognised within the EU (Ltd, Plc, {UK} NV, BV, Eenmanzaak {NL}, others such as SA {F}) that is registered in one member state of the EU. I am entitled to VAT exemeption on either my Ltd in yUK or my BV in NL.

It's not a good idea to think about trying to avoid BTW/VAT on private purchases, as the government where you reside usually has deeper legal fund pockets than you - and it's breaking the law anyway.

(And YES, I am a scaredy puss {"Waatje!"}, having read the rules and discovered what they can do to company directors who either break the law themselves or allow their employees to - *ULP*)

What is the VAT rate in the Netherlands then? I suspect it's at least 10%...

Schofiel,

did you had to pay VAT for purchasing your empeg?
If not, why not?

Heb jij hier ideeen over?
Alvast bedankt

It's comparable with most EC countries (I believe the range is around 15% to 20%). In other words, it's just the same tax you would have to pay if you bought a stereo from a local shop.

What kind of company do you have to have to be able to provide your VAT number when purchasing the Empeg

I don't mean to be facetious but you have to be the kind of company that has a VAT number. If you don't know what that means, I would guess that you don't have one.

It isn't really related to your company registration - you have to be registered for VAT. This means you have to charge VAT on anything you sell (except in special cases) and you get to claim back the VAT on anything you buy. You can be a sole trader with no company identity and still be registered for VAT. You can also be a Ltd company and not be registered for VAT.
